Boss information for Onimusha: Way of the Sword should be published in layers. Official sources name Sasaki Ganryu as a formidable foe and Musashi’s rival in the Demo, while current hands-on reporting describes additional Genma pressure and a boss called Rasho-gan. Those sources support preparation advice, but they do not prove a complete final roster, order, drops or endings. This page teaches how to read an encounter record without turning preview material into finished-game canon.
Build a boss record
For every encounter, record the product, scene, enemy name, first source, current date, arena shape, visible attack cues, available defensive answers and whether a retry or checkpoint option exists. This turns “hard boss” into a useful player question. A later patch can change one field without invalidating the entire article.
Keep story context and combat instructions separate. The Story page owns who the opponent is and where the encounter is placed. Combat owns Parry, Deflect, Issen, soul absorption and Oni Armament. A boss page should bridge them with the scene-specific decision: what to watch first, when to move, and what resource is safe to spend.
Sasaki Ganryu: official Demo scope
The official Demo announcement places Sasaki Ganryu in the early Kiyomizu-dera Temple experience and calls him Musashi’s formidable rival. Reach the encounter after practising the current defensive prompts. Watch how the rival commits, keep enough arena space to see the next action and use a resource only after the opening is clear.
Do not promise a fixed health value, exact phase order, reward, rematch or final relationship from the short announcement. The Demo save does not carry campaign progress into the full game. Record the encounter as a Demo lesson until the release confirms what changes in the base product.
Preview encounters and confidence
GamesRadar’s hands-on account describes Rasho-gan and reports a demanding exchange involving evasion, openings, resource timing and a choice after defeat. That is a strong secondary signal for the boss questions players will ask, but it remains an observation from a preview session. Use the report to shape the guide structure and label any named details as preview until the target build verifies them.
The same rule applies to an enemy name found in a video title, community post or search snippet. Require a direct source, route context and a player action before creating a canonical entry. A roster is not complete because three names are easy to find.
Recover after a defeat
Change one variable on each retry. First identify the attack that ends the run. Next decide whether Parry, Deflect, evade or spacing answers it. Then add one punish or soul decision. If healing or absorption appears unsafe, document the arena timing rather than calling the resource useless. If the input is delayed or the frame pacing changes, move the report to Technical.
For a crowd around a boss, record which enemy removes the escape route and whether a soul pickup is safe before the boss recovers. For a single rival, record the arena edge, the range of the visible cue and the recovery after a missed response. These details make a boss page actionable without pretending that a preview session provides final damage numbers or a universal difficulty setting.
If the game offers an immediate retry and a checkpoint-return choice, compare the two only in the current build. Note whether an upgrade menu, resource state or scene position changes. A defeat screen can be part of progression evidence, not merely a failure. Keep that evidence tied to the AppID and do not extrapolate it to the full campaign before release.
